Hormond House Access Statement

Hormond House is a home-based, three bedroom Bed and Breakfast in the Cornish Village of Polruan. At Hormond House we aim to cater to all the needs of our visitors and if you require any additional information please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Hormond House is situated almost exactly halfway up Fore Street, a fairly steep hill that runs through the heart of the village. Polruan is served by a limited bus service from Looe and Polperro, the bus stop is at the bottom of the hill but the driver will, on request, drop passengers off outside the house.

From the road there is a 3 inch curb to the pavement then 8 granite steps to a gently inclined concrete path to a further 2 granite steps and the Front Door.

The Entrance Hall is a combination of coir matting, secure carpet and wooden floorboards. Access to the first floor is via an enclosed wooden staircase with a bannister comprising 6 steps to a turning landing with a secure rug and then a further 8 steps to the first floor landing where the flooring is again a combination of coir matting, secure carpeting and wooden floorboards.

The Bedrooms have fitted carpets throughout with wooden threshold to the tile-floored Bath/Shower Rooms.

The Rear Access to the first floor landing, which is also a secondary means of escape in an emergency, consists of a wrought iron landing which leads to a metal staircase of 13 steps to a concrete patio. From there 11 granite steps lead through a cobbled passage to the front gate. From there a further cobbled walk to 5 granite steps that lead back up to the main road.
